**Nominated 2012 JUNO AWARD -CONTEMPORARY CHRISTIAN/GOSPEL ALBUM OF THE YEAR**

Kellie Loder is a growing and talented singer/songwriter from Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. Growing up, she was always aware of her gifts but never would have dreamt where they would one day take her. Some people have used the word “prodigy”, but she considers herself an artistic mystery.

From the womb, Kellie began to be "musically trained” as her mother placed earphones on her abdomen and would crank the tunes when she was pregnant. As a toddler, Kellie sat in the pew at church holding two pencils in her hands imitating the drummer beat for beat. With no musical training, Kellie was placed on the drumming schedule for her home church at just ten years old. She was a regular percussionist; a natural.

Kellie’s brother Bradley taught her, her 1st three guitar chords, and by fourteen she received her first guitar which nurtured her deeper love with what she was hearing. Grade school brought performing at various talent shows, assemblies; joining the school band as drummer and vocalist all while she continued to be musically involved within the church.

At the age of fifteen, she discovered her ability to write songs, when she composed music to fit the words of a close friend’s poem, about the death of her cousin in a car crash. She continued to use others’ lyrics but eventually started to write her own stories down on paper. Songwriting became the way she expressed every thought and emotion, and what she considers her most accurate approach to connecting with God. Her abilities developed and she went on to learn the piano, which she now considers her favorite instrument to play.

While attending nursing school, she became acquainted with Producer Devin Robinson of Sweet Music Studios in Springdale, NL. On May 4th, 2008 she recorded her first track of her indie bachelor album "The Way", which was released in August, 2008 and went on to sell out the initial 1000 copies. Kellie followed by performing as the opening act for artists such as Juno award winning singer/songwriter Amanda Falk (www.amandafalk.com) and St.Johns’ own, Matt Maher (www.mattmahermusic.com).

In October of 2009, Kellie was awarded an artist development package by YC Newfoundland & Labrador, valued at $20,000 which included time with production and industry professionals, studio time to record a new album, a professional photo shoot, membership with MusicNL and the ECMAs, and a featured artist slot at YC 2010 (www.ycnl.ca). This was awarded through a contest called the “YC Talent Search” and given based on Kellie's songwriting abilities and musical talents.

In January of 2010, Kellie moved to the city of St.Johns, NL where she would work on the sophomore album, entitled “Imperfections & Directions" with producer Peter Newman of NewManiac Studios  in St.Phillips, NL. After eight months of hard work, Peter traveled to Nashville, TN with the project in hand to further be processed by mix engineer Tom Laune of Bridgeway Studio ( Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Bruce Springsteen, Cece Winans, Michael Mc Donald). Kellie states “The main goal was to raise the bar higher this time around and to build on my previous learning experiences in the studio. I learned a lot from Peter and grew more as an artist in those eight months than I could have grown in ten years back in Corner Brook. Making the album was a long and hard process but totally worth it today. Every song has a story and each story can touch a certain life”.

October 2010 Kellie Loder’s  “Imperfections & Directions"  is released at YC Newfoundland & Labrador in the Gander Community Center where she took main stage. “When I write, I write about where I am in my life. When others hear my songs, I think they appreciate the honesty and sincerity behind each and every word. There’s a realness to my music that people can relate to, and I intend to keep it that way”.
